Ever on the cutting edge of Hong Kong’s competitive dining landscape, Epicurean Group is home to a vast array of outstanding concepts that promise a great meal and experience every time.

Their offerings range widely from specific types of Japanese cuisine such as izakaya at Iza Izakaya; to tapas at Pica Pica or Bàrbar; Mexican at El Taquero; Chinese at the award-winning Ship Kee; and international flavours at The Peak Lookout.

It’s safe to say that any visit to an Epicurean venue promises a top-shelf gastronomic experience, and this spring, two of their concepts are offering Visa cardholders a special discount when dining.

KAKURE

Nestled squarely yet discreetly in the heart of Central district, Epicurean Group’s KAKURE focuses on Ginza-style dining and tradition. In the spotlight are its teppanyaki live cooking station, a sushi bar, a comfortable main dining area as well as private tatami rooms. Particularly, the venue includes a hidden Ginza-style bar with a whisky selection to die for.

KAKURE translates to “present yet absent” – for those lucky enough to find its obscure location, prepared to be transported as each respective station honours tradition to a t. Ingredients (seafood and others) are flown in to the sushi bar daily from Japan, to be prepared and served Edomae-style on the bar made of a single trunk of Hinoki Japanese cypress. The fish itself is prepared only using time-honoured techniques, such as slicing through the back of the fish rather than through the stomach.
