From August 28 to 30, the 9th TPO Forum was successfully held in Sanya, The forum provided a platform for discussing the risks, challenges, and opportunities in the global tourism industry, offering diverse perspectives and strategies for creating sustainable tourism destinations, bringing together government representatives from Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism, Busan and Incheon in South Korea, Jakarta in Indonesia, Alor Setar, Manjung, and Ipoh in Malaysia, Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, as well as representatives from international organizations such as the United Nations World Tourism Organization, the World Tourism Forum Institute, and the Asia-Pacific Cities and Local Governments Union.

Themed "Open Cooperation and Innovative Development for Sustainable Tourism" the forum featured keynote speeches and roundtable discussions that delved into key topics such as "Collaborative Efforts for Sustainable Development and the Recovery of Global Tourism" and "Integrating Culture, Business, Tourism, and Sports to Revitalize the Global Tourism Industry." These discussions facilitated the exchange of ideas and fostered collaboration within the global tourism sector.

A key outcome of the forum was the release of the "Sanya Call to Action – On Sustainable Tourism", which promotes sustainable tourism practices, advances technological innovation, and champions open cooperation. The declaration also emphasizes the importance of putting these initiatives into action. The forum invited TPO member cities and top tourism-related enterprises from the Sanya Economic Zone to share high-quality tourism projects as case studies. Attendees also participated in field visits to Sanya's iconic tourist attractions, such as Luhuitou Scenic Area and the One Resort at Haitang Bay, experiencing the significant progress Sanya has made in sustainable tourism.
