The Ancient Greeks compiled the original list of the seven wonders in the 2nd century BC, which only included spots they knew. Many people agreed it was time to update the list. More than 100 million voted to finalise the seven modern wonders of the world: the Great Wall of China, Machu Picchu, Christ the Redeemer, Chichen Itza, Petra, Taj Mahal, and Colosseum.

Instructions:

1. Choose a man-made structure from your city that you would like to present to the rest of the world as a modern wonder.

2. Go online to research how this structure was built. How many people worked on it? What is so special about it? Was it challenging to build?

3. Write a short letter introducing people to your city’s modern wonder. Explain why the world should be amazed and impressed by this structure.

4. Share your letter with your friends and family to see what they think. You can even send it to [email protected], and we might publish it.
