A water monitor lizard called Aberdeen went missing in Hong Kong for almost two weeks before it was caught.

Aberdeen’s home is the Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden, which is a conservation centre. He escaped while getting his injured toe treated. He pushed open a gate and ran away.

Ten days later, a hiker found the lizard sunbathing on a tree. He seemed disappointed that he had to end his adventure but was happy after going back to his reptile friends.

Aberdeen was rescued from the illegal pet trade eight years ago. He has been helping visitors learn about lizards in Hong Kong.

The staff at the conservation centre were thankful to the hiker who found Aberdeen.
