12 years of work: the lone ranger in China’s Tuoliang National Nature Reserve

Because most of the road up the mountain is frozen, daily supplies can only be transported down by foot at an altitude of more than 2,000 metres. Photo: Xinhua
Rong is responsible for patrolling the protection area from the Yunding grasslands north to the hump, and east from the hump to Wuyuezhai. Photo: Xinhua

In the event of strong winds and thunder or lightning, Rong has to increase the number of patrols and look out for natural disasters in a timely manner. Photo: Xinhua
