Democrats forget Yogi Berra’s advisory, “It ain’t over ’til it’s over”, although it is difficult not to agree with the belief that their candidate, given the opponent’s manifold electoral delinquencies, should be prepping for the inauguration.

Democrats have a blind spot given that their hatred of former US president Donald Trump shields them from Vice-President Kamala Harris’ many deficits. I am thinking of composing background music for the Harris effort titled “Rhapsody of Recantation”. I am inspired by the silences in John Cage’s “4’33”” and the Gershwin brothers’ “It Ain’t Necessarily So”.

A visual representation might be a see-saw, one candidate’s incompetent campaigning perfectly balanced by the other’s incompetent policy explanations. Berra was a notorious bad-ball hitter who could still send the ball out of the park with regularity, a metaphor for whomever wins this prize.

Harris-Trump debate was display of beauty of democracy

US Vice-President Kamala Harris and former president Donald Trump have had their first public debate before Americans and the world. There was a lot of coverage of both candidates before the debate. Harris was dubbed “economically illiterate” by some commentators.
