Hot pot usually sounds like an easy meal option for dinner guests because everyone cooks their own food. But as anyone who has cooked this dish at home knows, the preparation can be a nightmare - it's difficult to know if you have enough food, while cleaning the ingredients is a time-consuming process. But help is at hand courtesy of hot-pot connoisseur Carmen Liu, who has launched BDG, Hong Kong's first hot-pot delivery service. With just a phone call or a click of your mouse (www.bdg-hotpot.com; Chinese only), you can place an order and BDG will deliver fresh ingredients straight to your door for a delicious meal that will have your guests salivating for more. The food ranges from luxurious seafood to organic vegetables, which are cleaned and skilfully sliced. They will even rent you a pot and stove if you need them.
Orders received before 2pm can be delivered on the same day; otherwise, you can go to their shop in Tin Hau and order from there. Set menus are available and if you are catering for more than eight people, they will create a special menu for you.
BDG is at 3 Tsing Fung Street, Tin Hau, tel: 8120 0228 or 3525 1548.
