Donald Trump will meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday, after a separate meeting with British Prime Minister Keith Starmer on Thursday night.
The Republican presidential candidate announced the coming meetings, both of which are set to take place at his Trump Tower property in New York, during a Thursday press conference.
The two leaders are in the United States to attend the UN General Assembly and they are among a slew of foreign officials who have sought to meet Trump in the final weeks before the November 5 election.
Separately on Wednesday, Trump met Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the United Arab Emirates president widely known as MBZ, according to two sources with knowledge of the matter.
“President Zelensky has asked to meet with me, and I will be meeting with him tomorrow morning at around 9:45 in Trump Tower,” the Republican told reporters in New York.
“And it’s a shame what’s happening in Ukraine. So many deaths, so much destruction. It’s a horrible thing.”

Trump spoke hours after the Ukrainian president met his US counterpart Joe Biden and Trump’s November election rival Kamala Harris at the White House.
Trump said: “I look forward to seeing him tomorrow.”
But the Republican also suggested he was displeased with Zelensky’s recent comments to The New Yorker magazine in which Ukraine’s leader said he believed Trump “doesn’t really know how to stop the war”.
When asked about Zelensky’s comments by a reporter at the press conference, Trump said “I do believe I disagree with him. He doesn’t know me.”
“I believe I will be able to make a deal” to end the war, Trump added, repeating a long-standing claim that he would swiftly bring about an end to the conflict which began when Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022.

The embassies of the United Kingdom and the UAE in Washington did not respond to a request for comment.
It was not immediately clear what Trump discussed with the UAE’s leader, nor what he planned to discuss with Starmer, both of whom are in the United States during the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.
Starmer, the leader of Britain’s Labour Party, sharply diverges from Trump on many public policy matters, but he has expressed an interest in getting along with whoever wins the US election.
He met Democratic US President Joe Biden earlier in September, for talks centring on whether to allow Western missiles to be used to hit targets in Russia.
The UAE is an important geopolitical player in the Middle East, and the country has played a role in evacuating the wounded from Gaza, the scene of a continuing war between Israel and Palestinian Hamas militants that has devastated the civilian population.
The United States has been concerned about the UAE’s warm relationship with China and has placed restrictions on exports of some American technology to the country. Some congressional leaders have also expressed concern that the UAE has been covertly supporting paramilitary fighters in Sudan, an allegation the UAE denies.


Earlier in the week, the Emirati leader met Biden, as well as Vice-President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate.
Meetings between presidential candidates and foreign leaders have happened during previous elections. In 2016, Trump and Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton both met the leaders of Japan, Egypt and Ukraine during that year’s UN General Assembly.
But such encounters are nonetheless sensitive, as the law limits what candidates can say or discuss during such encounters.
The 1799 Logan Act permits Americans outside the government to meet foreign officials, but it also limits their ability to negotiate US disputes.
Trump has opted against meetings with some foreign leaders in recent days.
He cancelled a joint appearance in Pennsylvania with Polish President Andrzej Duda over the weekend, and did not meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he had planned.
Trump’s decision to meet Zelensky followed several days in which campaign officials and people close to the former president indicated that such a meeting was unlikely.
