Manhunt on as US shooter leaves 6 dead, 12 injured in Sacramento

US police in California were searching for at least one suspect on Sunday, in connection with a mass shooting in downtown Sacramento that claimed six lives and left 12 other people injured.

Sacramento Police Chief Kathy Lester said at a news conference that officers had been patrolling the area at about 2am when they heard gunfire.

When police arrived at the scene, they found a large crowd gathered on the street and six people dead. Another 12 either took themselves or were transported to hospitals.

No information was given on their conditions.

Authorities did not know whether one or more suspects were involved and were asking for the public’s help in identifying who was responsible.
