Germany climate protesters aim to stop Berlin traffic, armed with glue

German climate activists tried bringing traffic to a standstill in Berlin on Monday by glueing themselves to streets all over the capital.
“We no longer accept that the government has no plan to stop the destruction of the basis of our existence,” said Carla Rochel, a spokeswoman for Last Generation, the leading group behind the protests.
Campaigners armed with glue halted traffic across the city, including on the busy motorway A100.
“Traffic jams expected!”, the transport agency warned commuters, with the city’s metro system also suffering delays.
Bus travel was subject to delays, detours and cancellations, the authorities said. They used Twitter to call on passengers to switch to rail services.
The street blockages were “not productive”, Britta Hasselmann, the Green party’s leader in parliament, told broadcaster ARD.
