A student who burned his inflatable doll “girlfriend” in a panic after his roommate returned early sparked a fire on a university campus in China.

The bizarre story has shocked mainland social media and led to the fire-starter being ridiculed online.

On February 10, a student at Hefei University of Technology in Anhui province, central China, revealed that a fire broke out in a dormitory after another student set an inflatable doll on fire.

According to the Chinese media outlet Owl Video, a male student, whose personal information has not been disclosed, was using an inflatable doll in his dormitory when his roommate returned unexpectedly.

In a panic, the student tried to hide his actions by setting fire to the doll.
