A police officer in China who disguised himself as a food courier after a delivery platform received a suicidal “last meal” note attached to an order has been praised for preventing a young man’s death.
Legal Daily and Lightning News reported that on July 22 a food delivery driver in Shandong province in eastern China received an unusual order.
“This will be my last meal, and I want it to be a hearty one,” read the attached note and listed the delivery location as the rooftop of a residential building.
The driver immediately alerted the police, who quickly formulated a plan to find the person behind the order before they could harm themselves.
A 24-year-old police officer, Wen Jialin, donned a delivery driver’s uniform and helmet and took the order to the listed address.
According to Lightning News, as Wen took the building’s lift to the rooftop, the customer called to ask about his order, at which point Wen continued to play the delivery driver role.
