‘Don’t sleep when I’m speaking’: China tour guide in trouble after dozing woman complains of being woken up on bus and accused of ‘disrespect’

A guide in China has come under fire on social media after a tourist uploaded a video complaining that she had woken her up and told her not to sleep on the tour bus.
The tourist, who was not identified, was visiting Lijiang – one of China’s best-preserved ancient towns – in southwestern Yunnan province when she joined a weekend tour group, according to the online news outlet People.
But while she was sleeping on the bus, the travel group’s guide woke her and asked her not to nod off while she was pointing out sites of interest, a video recorded by the woman showed.
“Don’t you think sleeping on the bus means you don’t respect me?” the female tour guide can be heard asking her in the video, which was uploaded on July 9.
When the tourist protested, saying: “I’ve paid to join this tour group. Why can’t I sleep on the bus?” the tour guide said: “We should show mutual respect. You respect me and I respect you, right?”
“Then you tell me what respect is,” the tourist replied.
