‘Scratched and scalded’: Chinese woman accuses father-in-law, who took exception to her ‘hot pants’, of assault in video, sparking anger online
- Alleged attack began when woman’s father-in-law told her during dinner that her shorts were too short
- After shouting match between the two, blows were traded and she had hot soup tipped over her
A man in China accused of physically assaulting his daughter-in-law because she was wearing “hot pants” on a warm summer’s day has caused outrage on mainland social media.
The woman, surnamed Xu, from Sichuan province in southwestern China, posted a video online after the incident detailing her version of events that occurred on June 12, Feidian Video reported
In the video, with scars visible across her face, Xu is dressed in white shorts and a green long-sleeved top — the outfit that her father-in-law took exception to.
Xu said the attack started when her father-in-law, who was not identified in the report, scolded her at the dinner tablefor wearing inappropriate clothing, saying her shorts were too short.
“If you go out like this, the neighbours will feel shame for you,” he said.
