A mother in China who imposed a strict diet on her son is all over mainland social media after news outlets reported she forced the boy to vomit up a piece of cake he ate at a classmate’s birthday party.
The cake incident occurred on June 1, which is Children’s Day in China, during a school birthday party for a girl in her son’s class. The boy’s age was not disclosed in the report.
The woman forced her son to drink a brew she concocted containing 30ml of olive oil, 10ml of coconut oil and 10ml of linseed oil to make him vomit up the cake.
The unidentified mother later sent angry messages to teachers and parents in a class WeChat group saying her son is forbidden from accepting food from others and warnings about the dangers of eating cake.
“My son cried in pain and promised that he won’t do that again,” she told the group.
When one parent thanked the mother of the girl who brought the birthday cake to school, the boy’s mother replied that she could not support “cake sharing” or saying “thank you” and attached a screenshot of information about the “harmful” effects of cakes.
