Five people were injured when a taxi and a bus collided outside a tunnel on Hong Kong’s Lantau Island on Thursday, forcing authorities to briefly close the route to traffic.

Police said emergency personnel headed to the scene at the Tung Chung-bound exit of Discovery Bay Tunnel on Cheung Tung Road after the incident was reported at 1.18pm.
A police spokesman said the cab driver and his passenger had to be freed from the taxi, while three bus passengers were also among the injured.
The Transport Department initially said that the tunnel was closed to traffic due to the accident, before opting for a one-lane arrangement that was cancelled at 3.19pm.
