A Hong Kong motorcyclist died after he rammed into a stationary container truck in the New Territories in the early hours of Tuesday.
The fatal crash occurred on Tin Sau Road in Tin Shui Wai at 4.47am, according to police.
“When approaching Tin Chak Estate, the motorcycle reportedly rammed into a medium-goods vehicle parked on the roadside,” the force said.
The 44-year-old rider sustained serious head injuries and was unconscious while being rushed to Tin Shui Wai Hospital, where he later died.
Officers from the New Territories North traffic unit are investigating the cause of the accident.
It was the city’s second fatal crash involving a motorcycle in a week.
Last Tuesday, a learner motorcyclist, 29, died in a collision with a hit-and-run coach on a slip road to the Connaught Road West flyover near the Western Harbour Tunnel. About an hour later, police located the vehicle and arrested its driver in Chai Wan.
