Truck driver arrested in Hong Kong after vehicle knocks down elderly woman at Hung Hom junction

- Another crash occurred in Tseung Kwan O around 9.24am, in which an 89-year-old man suffered injuries

Hong Kong police arrested a truck driver on suspicion of dangerous driving after his vehicle knocked down a 64-year-old woman at a road junction in Hung Hom on Tuesday, leaving her in hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The incident happened about two hours before an 89-year-old man was hit unconscious by a delivery van in another crash in Tseung Kwan O.
Police and paramedics were called to the junction of Fat Kwong Street and Ma Tau Wai Road in Hung Hom soon after 7.30am when the woman was knocked down by the truck.
A police spokesman said the victim suffered serious head injuries and was in a semi-conscious state while being taken to hospital.
The woman was in a critical condition in Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Yau Ma Tei.
The 35 year-old truck driver passed a breathalyser test, but was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm by dangerous driving.
