Hong Kong cyclist dies after crash with delivery van in Tseung Kwan O

An elderly cyclist has died in hospital on Friday following a collision with a delivery van in Hong Kong.

Emergency personnel were called at 12.12pm to the crash scene outside Yan Ming Court at the junction of Po Fung Road and Yan King Road in Tseung Kwan O, according to police.

“The cyclist suffered scratches to the head, arms and legs in the incident, and he was taken conscious to hospital,” a police spokesman said.

He said the victim, who aged about 80, died in Tseung Kwan O Hospital about 4pm.

Officers from the Kowloon East traffic unit are handling the case.

Between January and May this year, 49 people died in 48 fatal traffic accidents across the city. In the whole of 2019, 113 died in 107 road accidents.
