Hong Kong Disneyland Resort is set to expand its offerings of all things Marvel to include an attraction centred on Spider-Man, after a US executive with the entertainment giant dropped the reveal at an event in California.
While Disney has yet to announce an opening date, a construction timeline or any further concrete details about the attraction, a statement from the Hong Kong resort suggested the installation would focus on the web-slinging superhero.
“To ensure a better and brighter future for all mankind and the world, the most brilliant minds from the Avengers are working together and bringing new pavilions to the Stark Expo to showcase their most recent inventions and technologies,” the Hong Kong resort said in a statement on Sunday.
“Peter Parker (aka Spider-Man), the newest Stark Industries intern, is among one of them and will also be the host to demonstrate the latest breakthrough.”
The press release added that “one of the most formidable villains” would also make an appearance and guests would be “caught in the middle of the showdown”.
But the resort is not the only one getting a Spidey-themed attraction, with its sister site in Shanghai also set to offer another “high-energy thrill coaster” at its park.
The new installation at the Hong Kong park will be the third major addition to its Marvel-themed experience in the Tomorrowland section, which also includes new entertainment, shopping and dining offerings.
The statement added that the resort’s existing installations, such as the “Iron Man Experience” and “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle!”, have been popular since their respective launches in 2017 and 2019.
“With the new project, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort aims to continue bringing to life more heroic Marvel stories through its unique and innovative storytelling, further cementing its position as a premier destination for Marvel fans in the region,” the park said.
The new installation was among a slew of new offerings announced by Disney Experiences chairman Josh D’Amaro at D23, a biennial expo for fans held in California, over the weekend.
Other projects unveiled at the event included a Lion King installation coming to Disneyland Paris’ Adventure World, while Walt Disney World in Florida and California Disneyland are also set to welcome new attractions.

In June, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort revealed it had experienced its ninth consecutive year of losses in the last financial year, although net losses were reduced by 83 per cent to HK$356 million (US$45.6 million), pushed by a strong recovery on the mainland Chinese and Southeast Asian visitor markets.
Disneyland’s Ebitda – or earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation – rose by 207 per cent year on year to HK$924 million for the 12 months ending last September 30.
Michael Moriarty, the park’s managing director, at the time said the resort was “back and [had] turned the corner financially” following a “challenging journey” through the Covid-19 pandemic.
The park’s last major expansion was in November last year with the opening of the world’s first Frozen-themed entertainment zone following an around three-year delay.
The project was part of a HK$10.9 billion expansion plan co-financed by the Hong Kong government.
