Heading to Hong Kong Food Expo? Here’s a taster on what to eat, see and visit

  • With more than 1,840 vendors and four special themed days, there is plenty to keep visitors occupied

The annual Hong Kong Food Expo, to be held in tandem with a Beauty & Wellness Expo and Home Delights Expo, will take place from August 15 to 19 at the Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai. A Tea Fair will run from August 15 to 17.

With more than 1,840 vendors and four special themed days, the Post gives you a taster of what to eat, see and attend.

1. Locally produced food and drinks with Hong Kong flair:

  • City-made popcorn with unique flavours such as Hong Kong-style French toast, soy sauce and shrimp roe. Be Water Mart, Gourmet Zone Booth 3B-E08

2. Fusion of cultures:

  • Yuzu Jasmine Green Tea Mead made by a local brewery in collaboration with a Japanese brewery, made with Japanese yuzu and fragrant jasmine from Hong Kong. Howong Brewing Limited, Public Hall, Beverages (Alcoholic), Booth 1B-E31

  • Croissant taiyakis – a cross between the French pastry and a Japanese fish-shaped cake with sweet fillings in five flavours, milk, custard, chocolate, sweet potato and red bean, which was the “Grand Prix” award winner of the “2023 Japan Food Selection”. 3. Healthy and organic products with Chinese characteristics:

  • Healthy, organic noodles made with Dendrobium catenatum, a precious dual-use plant for both medicine and food in China. It is known to have the traditional functions of nourishing yin, antipyresis, tonifying the stomach, and promoting fluid production. It is regarded as a superfood in Chinese medicine. 4. Global specialities:

  • Tottori Hoshizoramai new crop rice, a premium type exclusively owned and distributed by the government of Japan’s Tottori prefecture, known as one of the best spots to watch the starry skies in the country. A series of activities and talks will also take place at various stages.

They include food and drink presentations with experts:

  • Introduction on Inner Mongolian mutton pairing with Chateau Le Cleret wine. August 15, 5pm-6pm, Gourmet Stage, Hall 3B

  • Feel the charm of Chinese baijiu, on savouring Mao-tai. August 18, 1pm-2.30pm, Gourmet Stage, Hall 3B

5. Talks with famed local chefs:

  • Chef’s Dialogue 2024 hosted by Jacky Chan To-on, with chefs Ricky Yan of Hong Kong Disney Explorers Lodge Resort Hotel, Tony Wong of JW Marriot Hotel and Lai Ching-shing of Fullerton Ocean Park Hotel. August 17, 3.45pm-5.15pm, Entertainment Stage, Hall 3C
