Heavy showers and thunderstorms are to hit Hong Kong on Sunday evening and Monday, the city’s weather forecaster has warned.
The Observatory issued a thunderstorm alert at 6.40pm on Sunday, which is expected to stay in force until 12.30am.
“Under the influence of a trough of low pressure, there are thundery showers over Guangdong and the northern part of the South China Sea,” the service said.
“Besides, an easterly airstream is affecting the coast of Guangdong.”

The Observatory warned “showers will be heavy at times with squally thunderstorms over the region” on Sunday and Monday night.
