Forecasters have said the weather of the past few days, where rain and sunlight have intermingled, could hold with south, southwesterly winds remaining.

Scores of pictures of the colourful phenomenon have appeared on social media since Tuesday, when a rare double rainbow appeared over Victoria Harbour.

There were sightings across the city, in Tai Po, Ma On Shan, and Sham Tseng, and the Hong Kong Observatory’s scientific officer Lily Leung Lai-lai said people had flooded the forecaster’s social media platform with images that had been taken.

On Wednesday evening rainbows returned to the city, and Leung said forecasters spotted one from the Observatory’s headquarters in Tsim Sha Tsui, although it was not as bright as the day before.
