A delivery man in the passenger seat of a truck was killed on Sunday morning after he was thrown from the vehicle, which had rammed into a stationary car in the middle of a road in Tai Po.

Police said the car was not moving on Tolo Highway because it had run into a kerb near Science Park at about 2.50am. The knock forced the vehicle back into the middle of the road, where it sat for about 20 minutes before the truck hit.

The driver of the car, 40, was waiting for help when the incident happened. He suffered minor injuries.

The force of the impact from the collision threw the 60-year-old delivery worker out of the truck, which ran over him as it skidded against the side of the road for another 200 metres before coming to a halt.
