Hong Kong’s John Lee to start public consultation this month in lead-up to second policy address
- Chief Executive John Lee pledges to continue his ‘result-oriented approach’ and push for the city’s economic development
- Public invited to make their views heard ahead of policy address in October
Hong Kong’s leader has said he will start a public consultation this month in the run-up to his policy address and has vowed to continue his “result-oriented approach” to drive the city’s economic development.
But the city’s sole non-establishment legislator on Friday said the exercise to gauge residents’ concerns could be an opportunity to heal political divides.
“Over the past year, the government has fought the pandemic to boost the economy and to solve livelihood issues. Knowing that you lead a happy life makes me happy. The smile on your face is the purpose and motivation of our concerted effort,” he said.
“In the coming year, the government will continue to adopt a result-oriented approach and to fight for Hong Kong’s economy and development … I look forward to hearing your views.”
