A man was accused of bungling a taxi hold-up on Tuesday, and ending up locked alone inside the cab.
The 25-year-old was arrested after the quick-thinking victim jumped out of the vehicle and locked him inside the cab in the New Territories on Tuesday morning.
Police said the man flagged down the taxi outside Yan Chi House on Tin Yan Estate in Tin Shui Wai at about 10am, and got in.
They said as the car drove off, the passenger drew a fruit knife and said he was robbing the driver.
“The driver stopped, got out and then locked up the taxi, leaving the robber trapped in the rear passenger seat,” a police spokeswoman said. The 61-year-old driver then called police.
The man was arrested when officers arrived.

The spokeswoman said no one was injured and no property was stolen.
Separately, a 28-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday for robbing two 7-Eleven stores in the space of six minutes in Sham Shui Po when he returned to the scene of the first crime. The two stores are about 100 metres from each other.
The first hold-up happened at 6.52am when the man used a wooden rod to hit a cash register at the Pei Ho Street shop and fled with a bottle of juice worth HK$10.
Six minutes later, he entered the Fuk Wing Street store and he used the rod to hit the counter and declared robbery.

Police said the man escaped with HK$600 and a pack of cigarettes.
No one was injured in the two incidents.
While officers were carrying out inquiries at the Pei Ho Street store, the suspect was found wandering outside. Police arrested him after he was spotted by staff.
By Tuesday afternoon, both suspects were being held for questioning and had not been charged.
According to police figures, there were 223 reports of robbery across the city last year, a 27.8 per cent drop compared with 309 in 2014.
