A 59-year-old hiker died after being found unconscious near the top of Lantau Peak on Monday.

The man, surnamed Chow, was found lying unconscious by a group of six hikers at a hillside, also known as Fung Wong Shan, off Ngong Ping Road in Lantau South Country Park shortly after 1pm.
He was airlifted to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital in Chai Wan by a Government Flying Service helicopter.
“The man was certified dead on arrival at the hospital,” a police spokesman said.

Police said it was possible he collapsed while hiking alone.
