Police arrest a second man in connection with assaults on women in Sham Shui Po

Police move in on man accused of engaging in a series of random assaults on women walking through housing estates in February

Police arrested a second man in connection with a series of assaults on young women in Sham Shui Po last month.

The 29-year-old man was charged with one court of wounding and criminal damage. He will appear in Kowloon City Court for mention tomorrow .

Seven women aged between 16 and 22 were hit separately by attackers in the faces or heads between February 19 and 22 around Sham Shui Po area.

District chief inspector Johnson Chong Shing-yet said yesterday that the suspect was arrested in Mong Kok on Thursday.

A 41-year-old man was also arrested in Yau Ma Teu last month in connection with the attacks but could not be identified by some of the victims.

The first attack happened at about 4pm on February 22, when a schoolgirl, 17, walked past a public toilet on Sai Chuen Road near Fu Cheong Estate. A man punched her in the face and fled on foot with an electrical plug.
