A housewife has denied engaging in electoral fraud during Hong Kong’s district council elections four years ago.
Wong Tai Sin resident Choi Kai-kwan, 73, was accused of casting her vote in Lung Sing constituency on November 6, 2011, despite knowing she was not entitled to do so, Kowloon City Court heard this morning.
The ICAC alleged Choi’s vote at the polling station in Diamond Hill’s Lung Poon Court Commercial Centre was a corrupt conduct.
Choi was registered to vote in Lung Sing, the Independent Commission Against Corruption told the media earlier. It is not known whether she has lived there before.
Her current address is at Yuk Wah Crescent in Tsz Wan Shan, where residents belong to the constituency of Tsz Wan East, according to a document submitted to court by the ICAC.
She pleaded not guilty to one count of engaging in corrupt conduct with respect to voting at an election under section 16 of the Elections (Corrupt and Illegal Conduct) Ordinance.
