2 burglars ransacking Hong Kong luxury home flee after being spotted by helper
Police investigating break-in at detached house at 1-7 Kau To Shan Road in Sha Tin after helper made report early on Tuesday morning

Two burglars who ransacked a luxury residence in Hong Kong’s New Territories are on the run after being spotted by a domestic helper in the early hours of Tuesday, with the pair fleeing the scene when she screamed at the sight of them.
Police officers arrived at a detached house at The Baroque residential complex on 1-7 Kau To Shan Road in Sha Tin to investigate after receiving a report at 2.25am. They found a broken glass window and signs that multiple rooms had been ransacked.
A source said a domestic helper living there checked around the house after hearing strange noises. She screamed after discovering two men ransacking the living room, prompting the pair to flee. She then called police.
The insider added that the homeowner, surnamed Shum, was not in Hong Kong at the time of the incident, with the house being looked after by the helper.
The force said the two burglars were described as being 20 to 30 years old, with slim builds. They were wearing black clothing at the time of the incident.
Officers from the Sha Tin district crime squad are investigating the case, with the losses from the incident still being assessed.
