Hong Kong police arrest 3 suspects in connection with fatal Sha Tin slashing
Father and son accused of being masterminds behind attack, as officers still on the hunt for two assailants, a spotter and a driver
Hong Kong police have arrested a father, his son and a woman in connection with a fatal knife attack on an alleged triad member in a quiet, upscale residential area of Sha Tin.
Superintendent Li Muk-yik of the southern New Territories regional headquarters said on Monday that the father, 76, and his son, 47, were accused of being the masterminds behind the attack that was linked to a “serious dispute” due to financial issues.
Li did not comment on the monetary amount involved. He said officers were still looking for the two people who slashed the victim.
He said the force believed a third suspect, a spotter, had fled to mainland China. The driver of a taxi was also being sought.
The father and son, who were allegedly Wo Shing Wo triad members, were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder on Sunday night.
The female suspect, 28, was detained on Monday morning and identified as the girlfriend of the spotter who joined two assailants at the scene.
