Hong Kong official accused of sexually assaulting underage girl not allowed to travel
Court dismisses request by district councillor Sei Chun-hing, 37, who denies assaulting 11-year-old in 2008 and unlawful sex with her in 2011
A court has dismissed a district councillor’s request to leave Hong Kong for work purposes while he awaits trial for the alleged sexual assault of an underage girl.
Yuen Long district councillor Sei Chun-hing, 37, denied charges of indecent assault and unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 16 when his case was heard for a second time at the District Court on Thursday.
A charge sheet submitted to Tuen Mun Court earlier this year alleged that Sei assaulted an 11-year-old girl at Ko Shan Road Park in To Kwa Wan on an unspecified date in November 2008.
The official was also alleged to have had sex with the girl at a flat in Tin Shui Wai when she was 13 on March 14, 2011.
The defence counsel asked that Sei, who is also a personal assistant of cultural and sports lawmaker Ma Fung-kwok, be permitted to retrieve his mainland China travel permit before his trial commenced on September 15 next year.
Judge Kwok Wai-kin rejected his request but said he could renew his bid in the future if necessary.
