A Hong Kong police investigation into online drug sales led to the arrest of two alleged traffickers and the seizure of HK$45,000 (US$5,756) worth of suspected cannabis buds and packaging equipment in a Tseung Kwan O flat, the force revealed on Tuesday.
After identifying the suspects during the probe, officers from the Tseung Kwan O anti-triad squad arrested a 28-year-old man outside Lohas Park railway station on Monday.
In a follow-up raid on his flat in the area, police seized 192 grams of what appeared to be cannabis buds along with packaging equipment. A 25-year-old woman was also found on the premises during the operation.
The two suspects were detained on suspicion of trafficking in a dangerous drug – an offence punishable by up to life in jail and a HK$5 million fine.
As of Tuesday morning, the pair were still in police custody. The force said the investigation was ongoing and further arrests had not been ruled out.
