A minibus crashed into five parked motorcycles near a shopping centre in Hong Kong on Monday, with all six vehicles suffering extensive damage from a fire that broke out after the incident.
According to police, the minibus driver, 76, lost control of his vehicle and rammed into the motorcycles parked beside the concrete pillar of a flyover near Maritime Square on Tsing King Road in Tsing Yi at around 3.15pm.
“The minibus driver claimed the brake failed when he was negotiating a right turn,” a police spokesman said.
The driver, who was unhurt, and his six passengers were evacuated through the vehicle’s rear emergency exit before the blaze broke out.

Firefighters used a water jet to battle the blaze and extinguished it 15 minutes later. The minibus and the five motorcycles were damaged and the pillar was turned black.
