The haul was found shortly after officers intercepted the man on a Yuen Long street and allegedly found seven grams of cocaine on his person on Tuesday. Police subsequently raided his flat at the district’s Park Signature housing estate.

“In his residence, officers seized 1.3kg of suspected crack cocaine and 1kg of suspected cocaine along with some drug manufacturing equipment. The seized drugs have an estimated street value of HK$3.2 million,” police said in a statement.

The man was detained on suspicion of drug trafficking and the manufacture of a dangerous drug, crimes punishable by up to life imprisonment and a HK$5 million fine.

As of Wednesday morning, the suspect was still being held for questioning.

In a separate anti-narcotics operation, police arrested two suspected traffickers following the seizure of HK$17,000 worth of illegal drugs in a hotel room in Ap Lei Chau on Tuesday night.
