Hong Kong government officer arrested on bus at police roadblock during protests

A government trade officer has been arrested in connection with an anti-government protest after he was stopped on a bus at a police roadblock.
His arrest brings the total number of civil servants detained over escalating civil unrest in the city to at least five, the Post was told.
The official was said to have been caught with items including a gas mask, helmet and gloves in his rucksack. The 49-year-old was held on suspicion of possessing instruments fit for an unlawful purpose.
The man, surnamed So, was picked up on Sunday evening when a bus he was travelling in was intercepted at a police roadblock at the Tsuen Wan exit of Shing Mun Tunnel.
It was set up by officers from the Police Tactical Unit soon after riot officers mounted a clearance operation on Yuen Wo Road, Sha Tin, to disperse protesters who had set up barricades and started fires in the area.
