Police treating couple’s death as murder-suicide after pair fall from 27th floor of Hong Kong building
- Victims believed to be husband and wife and sources say police are investigating whether woman was strangled
Police have launched a murder investigation after a Hong Kong couple fell to their deaths from a 27th-floor flat on Tuesday.
A man, aged 61, and his wife 59, died in the incident, and a police source said they were treating it as a murder-suicide after suspected strangulation marks were found on the woman’s neck.
Emergency personnel were called in shortly before 5.30pm when the pair fell from Kam Lai House on Ning Tai Road, Ma On Shan. A security guard called police.
The two victims were certified dead at the scene.
“We believe the couple jumped together, as passers-by heard one loud bang before the two were found unconscious on the ground outside the building,” a police source initially said.
An investigation later indicated the woman had been strangled before falling, superintendent Chan Yan, assistant Sha Tin district commander of crime said.
