Hong Kong will host 3 bazaars at waterfront promenades, stage colourful shows and performances as part of nightlife campaign, industry head says

Hong Kong will host three bazaars at waterfront promenades across the city and stage a series of colourful shows and performances as part of a major campaign to revitalise its nightlife that launches on Thursday, an industry leader has revealed.

Simon Wong Ka-wo, president of the Hong Kong Federation of Restaurants and Related Trades, on Wednesday also called for the government to loosen its purse strings to help the arts community take part in the events.

“The government should splash out on these night events to make them attractive to visitors and locals. They should subsidise arts groups and artists to stage a performance there,” he said.

He made the call as the city recorded another 4.1 million visitors in August, reaching more than 80 per cent of pre-pandemic levels for the same month.
