Typhoon Podul: 2 Taiwan-bound flights forced to return to Hong Kong
Unstable weather causes HK Express services to turn back, as forecaster says No 1 storm warning to remain at least until 6am on Thursday

Two Taiwan-bound flights operated by a Hong Kong budget carrier were forced to return to the city due to unstable weather from Typhoon Podul on Wednesday, while the forecaster said the No 1 storm warning signal would remain in effect at least until 6am on Thursday.
The weather forecaster raised the signal at 8.40am.
“The standby signal will remain in force at least until 6am [on Thusday],” the Observatory said on Wednesday evening.
“Depending on the weakening rate of Podul, its distance from the Pearl River Estuary and the change in local winds, the Observatory will assess the need to issue the strong wind signal No 3 later [on Thursday] morning.”
HK Express said on Wednesday that its flights UO110 and UO112 had returned to Hong Kong due to adverse weather conditions in Taipei, and had landed safely.
