Hongkongers should brace for heavy downpours during lunchtime as thundery showers are edging closer to the city, the local forecaster has warned.

“Showers will be heavier around noon. Members of the public should be on the alert,” the Observatory said on Friday.

“The areas of thundery showers over the vicinity of the Pearl River Estuary is edging closer to the territory gradually.”

Widespread heavy rains might affect Hong Kong shortly, the forecaster said at 11.50am.
