Cold weather warning for Hong Kong as monsoon sends temperatures plunging
Warm weekend weather gives way to a chilly Monday
Hongkongers may want to grab a coat before leaving home on Monday morning, as the city is braving a sudden drop in temperature after a warm and humid weekend.
According to the Hong Kong Observatory, as of 8am, temperatures range from 5.2 degrees Celsius in Ngong Ping on Lantau Island to 13.5 degrees in Happy Valley.
This is in contrast to the high of 28 degrees recorded yesterday in Wong Tai Sin and Kowloon City.

“An intense northeast monsoon is bringing cold weather to the coastal areas of Guangdong,” said the Observatory in its weather report.

A cold weather warning has been issued.
