University of Hong Kong does its reputation no harm in latest ranking
HKU comes in at 39th – behind Tsinghua and Peking universities, which are ranked 14th and 17th
The University of Hong Kong has risen six places to joint 39th in the latest ranking covering the reputation of higher education institutions around the world.
It is the first time for five years that the university has featured in the top 40 of the annual World Reputation Rankings published by the London-based magazine, Times Higher Education.
But the university still falls behind two mainland institutions, Tsinghua and Peking universities, which are ranked 14th and 17th. They rose from 18th and 21st last year.
Ranked 11th, the University of Tokyo is the highest among Asian universities.
Chinese University and the University of Science and Technology remain in the range of 71 to 80.
