There are nearly 400,000 migrant domestic workers in Hong Kong as of 2024, most hired from the Philippines and Indonesia to do daily house chores like cooking and cleaning as well as caring for children, pets and the elderly.

A migrant domestic worker employment contract is for two years, but if terminated early by the employer or employee, domestic workers only have two weeks to find a new job.
