Snowden film Citizenfour set for Hong Kong premiere in May
Movie will open on May 7, two years after ex-NSA contractor arrived in the city

The Oscar-winning documentary set in Hong Kong during one of the biggest security leaks in United States history will premiere in a Yau Ma Tei cinema in the coming weeks.
The documentary Citizenfour, about former US government intelligence contractor Edward Snowden, would make its Hong Kong debut on May 7 at Broadway Cinematheque, said a spokeswoman for Edko Films, a local independent film production and distribution company. The full schedule has not yet been confirmed.
The release date marks almost two years since Snowden flew from Hawaii to Hong Kong - in May 2013 - to meet reporters and disclose the US government's clandestine mass collection of metadata, sparking a global debate about privacy in a technology-driven era.
The cinema, near the Temple Street market, is known to favour independent films over big-budget Hollywood blockbusters.
The 114-minute documentary may be shown at other cinemas run by Broadway Circuit, the cinema arm of Edko Films, but this is yet to be confirmed.
Snowden met several reporters at the Mira Hong Kong hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui before going into hiding in the city after he went public as the source of the leak.
