As a sixth-generation member of the Hermes family, Pascale Mussard grew up surrounded by craftsmen in the French fashion house's atelier.
She loved collecting leftover strips of fabric and leather, and used them to create her own accessories.
But in 2009, she decided to take her lifelong hobby to another level by creating a collection, called Petite h.
"If a person that you respect takes so much time to find the best piece of fabric or leather, it shouldn't be wasted," said Mussard, who was in town on Tuesday for the Petite h launch in Hermes' boutique at The Galleria in Central.
Mussard, 55, brought about 2,000 products to Hong Kong, including patchwork purses, tote bags, a bento box wrap made from scarves, and a chair made from strips of leather and shredded magazines.
Many items had sold out before the launch party, despite going on sale just days earlier. Pointing to a necklace crafted from wood and scarf material, Mussard said: "This is not bad wood, it's just the craftsmen didn't know what to do with it.
