Chinese subway fashion police stop student in Goth-style make-up
- Woman takes to Weibo to challenge Guangzhou Metro after one of its staff tells her to remove her lipstick and eyeshadow

The operator of the subway system in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou has apologised after one of its staff asked a university student to remove her Goth-style make-up because it might distress other commuters.
Wearing a long black dress, dark red lipstick and purple eyeshadow, the student was stopped by staff at a security checkpoint at Xiaogang station and told to remove her make-up to enter the system, according to a post she wrote on the Twitter-like Weibo service.
“The woman security guard told me the make-up was problematic and too horrifying. It must be removed on the spot,” the student wrote.
“I was angered and amused at the same time. The make-up looked ordinary to me. They asked me to remove the make-up but there was no water,” she told video site Pear Video.
Still in full make-up, the student continued on her way and took the train.
But she later took the subway authorities to task online.
