Birds of a feather: Chinese man puts normal life on hold after pair of redstarts nest in his living room
Man from Sichuan province eats out and forgoes watching football on TV so as not to disturb the birds, newspaper report says
A man in southwest China did not turn on the living room light, cook meals or watch football on TV for more than a month after a pair of birds nested in his apartment, according to a newspaper report.
The pair of Daurian redstarts made nest in the man’s fifth floor apartment living room, with a balcony full of plants and a lush park nearby in Nanchong in Sichuan province, the Chengdu Business Daily reported.
Four baby birds were eventually hatched and flew away, the report said.
The cohabitation with the birds started in mid March when the man returned home to find grass and moss on his living room floor, according to the report.
More roots and moss would always appear after he had cleaned them away.
Two days later, he saw two birds fly into the living room through the balcony window, carrying grass between their beaks, which made him realise they were building a nest on the ceiling.
