A nephew of disgraced former security tsar Zhou Yongkang has been jailed for 12 years for corruption, a court announced on Friday.
Zhou Feng was also fined nearly 60 million yuan (HK$70.67 million) for his crimes, which included forging invoices, the Yining district court in Yichang, Hubei province, said.
His illegal gains would be confiscated and he would not appeal, the court said in a statement.

Zhou Feng is the son of Zhou Yongkang’s younger brother Zhou Yuanqing, who was also detained for investigation in late 2013.
On Wednesday, Zhou Yongkang’s son and wife were found guilty of taking bribes and handed jail terms.
Zhou Bin, his 44-year-old son, was imprisoned for 18 years and fined 350 million yuan. The elder Zhou’s wife, Jia Xiaoye, was jailed for nine years and ordered to pay a 1 million penalty.

The Yining district court found that Zhou Feng, along with two others – Zhou Yichun and Tang Zhiguo – had forged invoices for a company called Qionglai Hongfeng Potash. It was registered in 2007 in Qionglai, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Chengdu, Sichuan’s provincial capital.
Zhou Yichun, who served as a company board member, was sentenced to four years in jail. It is unclear whether he is related to the Zhou family.

Tang was sentenced to three years’ jail, suspended for two years, the court said.
Family members of the defendants, as well as local lawmakers and political advisers, were in court when the rulings were handed down.
Zhou Yongkang is the most senior official to fall under President Xi Jinping’s wide-reaching graft campaign, which has swept through the government, the military and the state-backed sectors of the economy.

He was jailed for life last year after being found guilty of graft, abuse of power and leaking state secrets. His son and wife appeared in a video that was presented at his trial. Beijing-based political commentator Zhang Lifan said it was possible he made a deal with the authorities to accept his fate quietly in exchange for leniency for his family.
Zhou Bin was convicted of taking more than 222 million yuan in bribes, in concert with his father and others, and using his father’s position to obtain payment.
Jia, a former China Central Television employee, was found guilty of using the influence of others to procure an unspecified amount of money. She was fined one million yuan.
