Beijing and Washington should expand cooperation and reduce their disputes, China’s foreign minister told his US counterpart on Friday, with preparations under way for a summit in the Chinese capital in April.
“Dialogue is better than confrontation, cooperation better than conflict, and win-win better than zero-sum,” Wang Yi said to Marco Rubio on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.
Both countries should fully implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, striving to make 2026 a year of progress towards mutual respect and peaceful coexistence, he said, according to a Chinese foreign ministry statement released on Saturday.

Wang said Chinese President Xi Jinping and his American counterpart Donald Trump had given “strategic guidance” for China-US relations.
“With equality, respect and mutual benefit, the two sides can address each other’s concerns and properly manage differences.”
Wang called for efforts to put relations on a “stable, healthy and sustainable track” and to send positive signals to the world.
