China and US need to find a way to ‘get along’, Wang Yi tells American business groups
As trade war escalates, top diplomat calls for better ties and encourages US companies to seize opportunities created by China’s rise

“We should find the right way to get along and explore more significant, practical and beneficial matters for both countries and the world,” Wang told American business and think tank leaders in New York. He is visiting the city while China holds the rotating presidency of the United Nations Security Council this month.
The business council’s representatives included Boeing Global president Brendan Nelson, Goldman Sachs president John Waldron, Tapestry CEO Joanne Crevoiserat, and Xcoal Energy and Resources CEO Ernie Thrasher.
“China and the US share extensive common interests and vast cooperation space. Both countries should genuinely respect each other’s core interests, enhance communication, build mutual trust, eliminate disturbances, overcome obstacles and work towards improving and stabilising China-US relations,” Wang said.
China and the US have been embroiled in several diplomatic and economic disagreements as their tech and military rivalry has intensified.
